FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is an N1X certificate?
A digitally signed Certificate of Prior Existence. It records the unique fingerprint of your file and the exact time it was registered with us, proving your work existed at that moment.
Do I need to register copyright to own it?
No. In India and all Berne Convention countries, copyright exists automatically from creation. What you need is evidence of when you created it — that is what N1X provides.
Is the certificate valid in Indian courts?
Electronic records are admissible under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. N1X certificates are cryptographically signed and independently verifiable, which makes them strong electronic evidence.
Do you see my file?
Not unless you choose to store it. Your browser computes the fingerprint locally; with hash-only mode the file itself never leaves your device.
What if I edit my work later?
Any change creates a new fingerprint. Simply certify each important version — together they form a timeline of your creative process.
How does someone verify my certificate?
Scan the QR code or enter the certificate ID on our Verify page. They can also upload the original file to confirm it matches exactly.
What files are supported?
Any digital file — documents, images, audio, video, code, archives — up to 20 MB when stored, or any size in hash-only mode.
Can a certificate be changed or deleted?
No. Certificates are permanent and recorded in a hash-chained log, so they cannot be altered without detection.
